SHARON EDMONDSTON
2019 TedX Short Film. Storage
For the TEDX film showcase we created a dystopian depiction of the real legacy we're leaving behind.
2019 was the tenth year of the TEDxSydney film program. The theme was “Legacy” and we were extremely excited when our film ‘Storage’ was accepted to be screened throughout the season.
“Storage” imagines a not-too-distant future where data storage is mankind’s most valuable commodity.
Servers are already strained as we accumulate the digital legacy of our lives. Selfies, screen grabs, music, videos, university assignment from 20years ago, terabyte after meaningless terabyte.
Where our grandparents carefully curated their legacy and the memories they left us, we have become a generation of digital hoarders.
What happens when there is no more space? When space becomes so scarce that it is a commodity more valuable than oil or precious metal.
Storage tells the story of this world… A world of off-world data storage, and the competitive market place to keep our digital memories intact - Using three stories, three characters, across three screens.
